Overcoming Symptoms of Dyslexia
This title may sound like a radical statement to you. Usually, children receive a label of Dyslexia and are encouraged to learn how to live the rest of their lives with it - coping and compensating. Steps of Hope offers this advice:
Don’t accept a list of current symptoms to define your child’s future.
Find the root cause and fix it!
The following test results are raw data from client files. Each client came to Little Giant Steps with a pre-existing label of dyslexia and was assigned a number in order of age (read along the bottom of graphs). All received preliminary tests upon admission:
Reading Comprehension, Math and Word Recognition
The tests establish baselines on educational grade level (read up the left side of graph) functional abilities and are indicated in blue. All received a neurodevelopmental evaluation and an individualized plan was written by a neuro-educational specialist.
All programs were implemented by parents who were trained in specific activities on their child’s individualized program. Parents are supported by encouraging emails and follow-up calls-available at all times. Little Giant Steps cannot guarantee programs were followed as recommended, but tracking sheets were used to help parents stay on schedule.
This report also shows the educational grade level scores (in red) after four months on the recommended program via a repeat of the same battery of tests. Both males and females participated.
